The degree of Master of Business Administration or MBA is a well sought after course for newly graduates. The MBA subject offers a career in various industries which is fast-paced and fulfilling in terms of progress and placement. The placement is done in colleges in the final year of this 2-year course.

A good MBA college in India will offer students an education in the field of business management and administration with a global MBA environment. The institute will train the students and prepare them for a world filled with career opportunities. The top MBA colleges will have a highly qualified faculty and are known for consistently providing more and better placements of students. The position that these MBA colleges are given while they are being rated depends entirely upon publications, research output, quality of students, productivity, industry interface, etc.

The IIMs or the Indian Institutes of Management are considered the best colleges to pursue MBA. At present, India has 20 IIMs and the admission of candidates in these colleges is done through the Common Admission Test or the CAT. The admissions are done based on the academic profile of the student, work experience, CAT exam score, and the candidate’s performance in the Written Ability Test and Personal Interview. The three best IIMs who occupy the top positions when it comes to naming the best MBA colleges are

  • IIM Ahmedabad
  • IIM Bangalore
  • IIM Calcutta

Other IIMs that have earned a reputation as best MBA institutes are as follows.

  • IIM Lucknow
  • IIM Indore
  • IIM Kozhikode
  • IIM Trichy
  • IIM Kashipur
  • IIM Shillong
  • IIM Rohtak
  • IIM Ranchi
  • IIM Raipur
  • IIM Udaipur
  • IIM Nagpur
  • IIM Visakhapatnam
  • IIM Bodh Gaya
  • IIM Amritsar
  • IIM Sambalpur
  • IIM Sirmaur
  • IIM Jammu

All the IIMs have the same admission process, eligibility criteria, and almost similar fee structure but the placements and salary provided by IIMs are not that great. 13 of the 20 IIMs offer great placements with great salary but the other 7, since they are relatively new, have yet to prove themselves worthy of the attention. This is where other university-affiliated and private MBA colleges come in. Apart from the IIMs, certain university departments in India also offer a great MBA course. Some private business schools offer students AICTE approved PGDM programs. In many cases, these colleges are chosen by students over IIMs since their education and placement is high quality. These colleges also have a lower fee structure as compared to IIMS. Some of the best colleges that fall in this category are as follows.

  • MDI Gurgaon
  • IIFT Delhi
  • FMS Delhi
  • NMIMS Mumbai
  • JBIMS Mumbai
  • XLRI Jamshedpur
  • S. P. Jain Institute of Management & Research (SPJIMR) Mumbai
  • International Management Institute (IMI) New Delhi
  • Institute of Management Technology (IMT) Ghaziabad
  • K. J. Somaiya Institute of Management Studies and Research (KJSIMSR) Mumbai
  • Institute for Financial Management And Research (IFMR) Chennai
  • Xavier Institute of Management Entrepreneurship (XIME) Bangalore

The Indian Institutes of technology or the IITs also host management courses like MBA in their management departments for students with a technical background. The IITs are the best colleges in India for engineering courses and these departments are specifically for engineering candidates. These management departments of IITs are located in the various IIT branches of Kharagpur, New Delhi, Mumbai, Dhanbad, Roorkee, Kanpur, and Madras.

Since education is the most important determinant of one's success, the choice of the college of education plays a crucial role. Students must thoroughly prepare for the entrance exams that are required to get into the colleges. They should also have full knowledge of how these institutions work and should make sure that their choice will benefit them.
